Orleans

Orleans is a small town located on the lower Cape, with a population of around 6,000 people. Like much of the region, Orleans has a rich history rooted in fishing, whaling, and agriculture. Although tourism initially developed slowly, it gained momentum with the establishment of the Cape Cod National Seashore in the early 1960s. Spanning over 40,000 acres of ponds, forests, and beachfront, the Seashore was created by President John F. Kennedy. Today, Orleans is a popular destination for both its year-round residents and visitors, who enjoy the numerous inlets, islands, harbors, and coves, offering plenty of opportunities for recreational activities.
